Friction-Free Equipment Transfers with ServerLIFT®’s New Glide Table

ServerLIFT® Corporation is announcing its newest innovative solution for expert handling of data center servers and other IT equipment. ServerLIFT® devices can lift servers and other IT equipment up to 1,000 pounds (454 kg). The new ServerLIFT® GT-1000X Bi-Directional Glide Table facilitates the sliding of heavy servers on and off of the data center lift using low-friction rollers. This permits effortless installation in the rack from either side of a service aisle. Each data center lift from ServerLIFT® is built to handle all manner of rack-mounted servers, switches, and power supplies. However, sliding heavy equipment on or off any static surface can be difficult and challenging due to the resulting frictional forces. This can still cause more strain on the back, shoulder, and arm muscles than necessary. The GT-1000X Bi-Directional Glide Table sits between the piece of equipment and the lift table, and is comprised of a set of rollers over which server equipment slides from the lift platform to the rack, or from the rack to the lift platform. This minimizes friction between the server and the lift surface and results in less straining, safer positioning, and protection of the server equipment. ServerLIFT®‘s VP of Product Development, David Zuckerman, describes how the Glide Table works: “Our data center lifts are very stable. They stand on their own in data center aisles, without having to be attached to any other structures, such as racks. However, in speaking with our customers, we realized that we could still make it easier to push 500-pound or 1,000-pound servers from a lift shelf to a rack shelf. The rollers on the Glide Table make it possible to push a thousand pounds easily, with one hand.” While the Glide Table allows low-friction movement when unloading and loading heavy IT equipment, it also has a braking mechanism to prevent sliding and keep the payload stable during transport. The simple on or off hand brake allows complete control; the onboard server can either move easily over the Glide Table rollers or it will remain in place, according to the needs of the operator. ServerLIFT® product design and development strategies are driven by customer input. The GT-1000X Glide Table was developed in response to direct feedback. The Glide Table fits all of the ServerLIFT® lift models. The GT-1000X Bi-Directional Glide Table from ServerLIFT® can be ordered by calling (602) 254-1557 during business hours (Pacific Time), Monday through Friday.
