ServerLIFT® News October 18, 2021

As you are well aware, it isn’t simple setting up and running a data center. There are always hardware upgrades, new best practices, and probably some unexpected issues you never had to consider before. Whether you’re buying a new data center lift or just trying to stay on top of industry developments, here is some info that might help.

1. Questions You Should Ask Your Data Center Lift Provider

Every data center has unique needs. From rack height to the number of employees on the floor, conditions vary widely. The last thing you want to do is invest your time and money into subpar equipment that won’t get the job done. Best-case scenario, you’re sacrificing productivity. Worst case, you could be opening the door to safety hazards for your employees. That’s why we have put together a comprehensive list of questions to ask before making a final purchase on a data center lift, so you can feel assured that you’re getting exactly the equipment you need.

2. Oak Ridge upgrades data center set to be home to the world’s first exascale supercomputer: Frontier

The world’s most powerful supercomputer is under construction. The Department of Energy has begun installation on Frontier, the first exascale system that can perform 1018 floating point operations per second. The Oak Ridge National Laboratory data center is no stranger to supercomputers, having housed the Cray XK7 Titan until recently, but the facility will still require some serious upgrades to support Frontier. For details, including Frontier’s specs and cooling demands, check out the full article.

3. Safety Features of ServerLIFT® Data Center Lifts

There’s a good reason ServerLIFT® has been able to maintain our client-reported 100% accident-free reputation. Our lifts have:

  • Zero pinch points
  • A maximum load rating of 350 to 1,000 lbs (159 to 454 kg)—depending on the model
  • A narrow profile—just 24 inches (61 cm)—for easy maneuverability
  • A stabilizer brake system that locks the lift securely into place
  • Ergonomic handles for full control of the lift in all positions
  • An all-steel frame for stability and a strap kit for securing the server to the lift platform

We put the utmost care into developing safe data center lifts so you and your employees never have to worry about mishaps while handling your most valuable gear.

And if you also have a lift in-house you’re looking to have serviced or possibly upgraded, give us a call at (602) 254-1557.
