Safety: Anatomy of a ServerLIFT Data Center Lift

All ServerLIFT data center lifts are purpose-built for use in data centers. We know you’ll be lifting, moving, and installing heavy, expensive IT equipment. Our top goal is to help you do that with as little risk to your workers and your investment as possible.

Data centers that use ServerLIFT data center lifts say our lifts are the safest lifts they’ve ever worked with. That’s a clear demonstration that our careful design and attention to detail are working exactly as intended.

To understand why our approach works so well, let’s look closely at the anatomy of a ServerLIFT data center lift to see how each component protects your workers and saves you money by preventing costly accidents.

How does a ServerLIFT data center lift’s construction make it the safest data center list in the world?

Hazard-Proof Details

Data centers, by their very nature, have many potential hazards. We build each data center lift with potential infrastructure challenges in mind.

For instance, our TouchSTOP® safety switch stops the lift column immediately while rising if an overhead obstruction blocks the lifting platform. The mechanism senses when the lift is about to contact an obstacle, such as overhead lighting, a low ceiling, rafters, earthquake reinforcement, or anything else that gets in the way. It stops rising, preventing damage to both your IT equipment and your overhead infrastructure.

All potential pinch points are eliminated in each of our data center lifts. Unlike other lifts that have exposed pulleys and cables that could trap fingers, gloves, or other clothing, we make sure each surface of our devices is smooth and safe to touch.

Furthermore, ServerLIFT is widely recognized for our robust safety standards. We hold many safety certifications. Our data center lifts can raise, lower, and safely transport IT equipment weighing up to 1,000 lbs (454 kg).

Control, Stability, and Maneuverability

You should be able to safely lift, move, and install (or uninstall) your IT equipment using just one device. Why put your workers and your servers at risk by having to switch platforms or perform manual lifts mid-way through the workflow? These safety features ensure your staff and IT equipment are just as safe in the loading bay as in the hallway or among the racks.

  • Stabilizer Brake: Each data center lift comes with a stabilizer brake that locks into place during equipment installations and removals. This brake prevents accidental movement that could lead to disaster during the most precarious times, when stability is a must. It is controlled with two intuitive foot pedals: Green means “Go” and red means “Stop.”
  • Swivel Wheels: Chances are, your data center has more than a few obstacles on the floor at any given time. Most facilities have floor seams, raised thresholds, cord protector strips, and grates, among other hazards. That’s why we use 2.5-inch swivel wheels that smoothly roll over any bumps and unevenness on the floor. Better still, these freely swiveling wheels (which are excellent for tight turns) can be locked into place to make it effortless to move in long, straight aisles.
  • Safety Straps: We put strong safety straps on each of our devices. These straps are strategically placed to prevent even the heaviest loads from shifting during transit.

Precise Movements and Adjustments

Sure, you could lift heavy IT equipment with a generic warehouse lift. But could you navigate narrow aisles and achieve the precise alignment you need to safely install delicate servers without damage? Probably not.

A purpose-built ServerLIFT data center lift enables you to make micro adjustments with ease. Here’s why:

  • Fine Adjustment Pendant: Our data center lifts include a Fine Adjustment Pendant that controls your speed and allows for precise alignment of IT equipment with rack slots. This means you’ll be able to position the lifting platform exactly where you need it for installations or removals, with no manual intervention necessary.
  • Adjustable Platform Options: Our data center lifts feature either side-loading or front-loading platforms to suit your facility’s situation. Regardless of your configuration, each platform has adjustable tilt capabilities so you can always get the angle just right for a smooth installation. Additionally, side-loading platforms can glide six inches to either side and lock at one-inch intervals. Use this feature for effortless insertions into rails and shelves.
  • Ergonomic Easy-Turn Swivel Handles: With most other lifts, it’s hard to maintain fine control when you’re pushing, pulling, and navigating under heavy loads. To solve this problem, we equip each ServerLIFT data center lift with ergonomic, easy-to-grip handles that give you complete control of loads up to 1,000 lbs.

A Wide Range of Customizations

What if your facility requires a lot of heavy equipment installations overhead or down low near the floor? What if you have extra-wide AI servers that a standard data center lift can’t fully support? What if your racks have a J-rail system that makes precise alignment crucial?

For these and other specific needs, we recommend looking at our extensive list of přílohy. We recognize that not every data center has the same setup, and sometimes your needs can vary even within the same facility. We created each attachment with edge-case scenarios in mind, so you always have the right tools for the job without needing to invest in a new data center lift.
