Recently a customer contacted our Client Experience team to ask about the current draw at 110v to determine how many data center lifts could be connected to the same outlet via a power strip. We told them that most outlets run on a 15 or 20 amp fuse and that our lifts draw from 5-10

Friday Afternoon Lift Rental Rescue

A while back, our team was working through a particularly busy week. By the time Friday rolled around, we were all looking forward to our afternoon virtual team happy hour.

At 1PM we got a call from a company that was working on a project to install a couple dozen super heavy switches—all within a few days. The company was looking to rent a data center lift as a last resort in order to meet their deadline. Needless to say, they were in a bit of a panic.

Thankfully, the company was able to fast-track budget approval by 3PM, giving our team the green light to get to work. We all pulled together to get a rental machine prepped, packed, and out the door before 4PM that afternoon for a cross-country, Tuesday delivery. That made our happy hour very happy indeed.

Buyback Bonanza!

ServerLIFT has a standing Buyback Program, which has been around for some time now. We buy back lifts that were used to handle servers when a customer purchases a new lift from us. One Fortune 500 company made great use out of the program this summer.

They sent us a number of their used lifts to use as credit towards the newer SL-500X model units they had recently purchased. The used lifts were no longer working and the company that made them is out of business.

We’re glad we were able to help our customer with the Buyback Program and continue our mission to eliminate manual server handling in every data center in the world.

Consolidate and Coordinate Globally to Win! (or A Penny Saved is A Penny Earned)

We have been working with a data center industry leader for quite some time now. Like many other companies, their footprint is global, so standardizing something like a data center lifting tool requires global deployment.

We’ve gladly been able to work with them to rally the stakeholders in various regions—such as Asia Pacific—to save them tens of thousands on per-order shipping and importation costs. This was accomplished by coordinating and consolidating their orders to each region. A penny saved is a penny earned!

Helping Our Troops

As a veteran-owned company, we always consider it a privilege to help out the troops who risk their lives for us every day. A military branch reached out to ServerLIFT recently—they didn’t want to put anyone at risk in their data center!

We worked with their limited budget—they were worried that they wouldn’t be able to get the ServerLIFT-brand solution they knew they so desperately needed to keep their essential people (and equipment) safe. Because we offer multiple ways to buy (including financing, leasing, and renting), we were able to work out a program that allowed them to buy it and stay within budget.

What an amazing opportunity this was to help our brothers and sisters in uniform. We were grateful to be able to do something for them in return.

Certified For You

A prospective customer gave us a call recently. They were considering purchasing one of our motorized lifts, but had a reason for hesitation. They wanted to know if our ServerLIFT machines were properly certified for data center use. We assured them that we not only comply with international safety certifications, but also with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) guidelines for electromagnetic interference, and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification for quality assurance, continual improvement, and environmental impact. We’ve got the proper standards in place to match any and all you must meet to operate your data center.

From RackLift to ServerLIFT

We were speaking to a potential customer recently who let us know that they had purchased a Racklift instead of a ServerLIFT-brand lifting device. Once it arrived, they had to rig it to get it up a ramp, which they found to not only be dangerous but also useless because it could not fit in the right spots to lift their equipment. He told us: “The Racklift is too cumbersome, bulky, and difficult to use. It just sits in the corner and collects dust.” They no longer use the lift and are instead lifting equipment by hand, something we definitely do not recommend for safety reasons.

We explained our Buyback Program. He said that would be great for their situation; they could get rid of the Racklift and get a safely working lift at that location. We sent quotes on all four of our models with spec sheets and attachment information so the team could review and choose a ServerLIFT machine that best fits their use case. We just received their purchase order and are preparing for shipment.

One-Button Convenience

A potential customer at a colocation data center said he had a lift on site. After some discussion, we were pretty sure it was one of the “warehouse lifts,” which tend to cause problems in data centers. Unlike our lifts, they are not specifically designed for data center use. He said they have to crank and crank it up and down, but that it eventually gets the job done. He did admit that it does not perform well with heavier equipment on it. He said that they are a very small data center and he is not sure he will be able to get approval for purchasing a data-center-centric lift. However, he did say, “Now, if you have one that has a button we can just push, then I’m listening!” I replied that we do actually have three models that are powered by one-touch lifting. He was very excited to get more information and present it to his team. He’s hoping he can get a ServerLIFT solution, which they are using on their other sites.

Built Like Tanks

We checked in with a customer who has a couple of lifts. They told us they’re working out great. They said they loved them and that they are “built like tanks,” able to take all the abuse (not that we recommend abusing them!) they get from a variety of operators. After they started using them, he thought they were worth every penny, a true data-center-specific workhorse. He said he “appreciates and respects the ServerLIFT brand.” All of this just made our day!
