If you need deep-rack server support, using the FE-3X extended shelf can help you avoid disaster. This platform gives you an extra nine inches of shelf space that extends off the front of your SL-500FX and SL-500FXL front-loading units. That means you’ve got nine crucial extra inches of support for your heavy servers and switches as you slide them into (or out of) their rack slots.
This is especially helpful when your racks have fixed rails that don’t extend at all during installations and removals. In these cases, you would normally have no choice but to reach way back in there and balance your IT equipment precariously on the edge of a lifting shelf that wasn’t designed for that purpose. But with the FE-3X extended shelf, weight capacity for heavy equipment is no longer a problem.
Deep-rack installations are easy with this attachment. Position the ServerLIFT data center lift at the front of the rack, and the FE-3X extended shelf is already a few inches into the rack space by default. Then slide the lifting platform forward, and you can get 75% (or more) of the way back into the slot. You’ll just need a small push at the very end to transition the server from the edge of the FE-3X extended shelf all the way to the back of your rack slot. Simple!
