Por que Phoenix? Por que algu\u00e9m construir um data center<\/a> no meio de um deserto que atinge temperaturas de at\u00e9 119F \u00b0? E como eles v\u00e3o resfri\u00e1-lo com efici\u00eancia? Sei que essas foram as primeiras perguntas que surgiram em minha mente quando ouvi pela primeira vez sobre o novo data center do Project Mercury do EBay, e acho que voc\u00ea provavelmente estava pensando as mesmas coisas.<\/p>\n

O eBay atualmente est\u00e1 passando por uma grande reforma; afastando-se do aluguel e das instala\u00e7\u00f5es de leasing e passando a possuir os seus pr\u00f3prios, maximizando sua capacidade de controlar melhor a efici\u00eancia. Com uma PUE de 1,35 quando h\u00e1 uma carga de 30-40% nos servidores, o EBay tem pouco a se gabar. No entanto, quando os cont\u00eaineres s\u00e3o considerados individualmente, o PUE foi baixo em 1,018 em janeiro e subiu para 1,046 quando a temperatura externa subiu para 115 \u00b0 F em meados de agosto. Project Mercury hits home for two reasons: the first being more blatantly obvious, in the fact that the data center is located in our backyard, which is incredibly unusual given our extreme climate, and the second being that the facility uses ServerLIFT\u00ae<\/sup> server handling equipment to assist in the moving of their IT equipment.
