Perch\u00e9 qualcuno dovrebbe <a href=\"https:\/\/serverlift.com\/it\/data-center-lifts\/attachments\/le-series-lift-extensions\/\">costruire un data center<\/a> nel bel mezzo di un deserto che raggiunge temperature fino a 119F \u00b0? E come faranno a raffreddarlo in modo efficiente? So che queste sono state le prime domande che mi sono venute in mente quando ho sentito parlare per la prima volta del nuovo data center Project Mercury di eBay, e la mia ipotesi \u00e8 che probabilmente stavi pensando le stesse cose.<\/p>\n<p>EBay \u00e8 attualmente nel bel mezzo di una profonda revisione; abbandonando le strutture in affitto e in leasing per acquisirne di proprie, massimizzando la loro capacit\u00e0 di controllare meglio l&#039;efficienza. Con il consolidamento di 11 data center in sole 3 sedi, distribuendo decine di migliaia di server in un arco di tempo di sei mesi, \u00e8 stata una sfida enorme per l&#039;azienda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAvevamo bisogno di soddisfare una richiesta organizzativa per consolidarci <a href=\"\/it\/\">Centri dati<\/a> e distribuire decine di migliaia di nuovi server in meno di sei mesi &quot;, ha affermato in una nota Dean Nelson, direttore senior per i servizi di fondazione globali di eBay. \u201cCome parte di questo processo, volevamo spingere oltre i limiti in termini di ci\u00f2 che era stato raggiunto fino ad oggi in termini di efficienza del data center. Ebbene Project Mercury \u00e8 nato per necessit\u00e0, non per un tentativo di spingere i limiti o dimostrare un punto. Tuttavia, quando i contenitori vengono considerati individualmente, il loro valore PUE era un minimo di 1,018 a gennaio e solo \u00e8 aumentato a 1,046 quando le temperature esterne sono aumentate a 115 \u00b0 F a met\u00e0 agosto. Questi numeri sono incredibilmente bassi dato l&#039;ambiente in cui sono collocati. \u00c8 interessante notare che fino a 12 container possono sedersi all&#039;esterno sul tetto sotto il sole diretto dell&#039;Arizona e il data center \u00e8 ancora in grado di funzionare in modo efficiente.<\/p>\n<p>Project Mercury hits home for two reasons: the first being more blatantly obvious, in the fact that the data center is located in our backyard, which is incredibly unusual given our extreme climate, and the second being that the facility uses ServerLIFT<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> server handling equipment to assist in the moving of their IT equipment.
